Dimension

Delivery

Delivery is the vehicle. A good message in a poor vehicle arrives damaged, and the damage is almost never audible to the person doing it, which is why this is one of the three dimensions nobody can diagnose in themselves.

When it breaks

People hear that something was said without feeling that anything was meant. Attention slides off a voice that never changes.

Sounds like I said the right thing and it landed flat.

Usually mistaken for Accent. Speakers decide the sound of their voice is the problem, when pace and pause account for most of what they are hearing.

The sub-dimensions

Delivery is not one thing. It is 6, and a prescription aimed at the wrong one inside the right dimension fails in a way that is very hard to see, because the dimension was correct.

Pace

How fast, and whether the speed is chosen.

Speed rises with attention, so the moments that matter are the ones delivered fastest. Nobody hears their own pace.

Pause

The silences you allow.

Every gap gets filled, so nothing is given room to land. Pace is not really speed. It is whether the ends of sentences are allowed to finish.

Fluency

Whether the sentence survives being started.

The sentence is abandoned mid way and restarted, and the restart costs more attention than the hesitation did.

Articulation

Whether the sounds arrive intact.

A handful of words are avoided rather than mispronounced, and the avoidance shapes the sentence around them.

Tone

Whether the voice carries that you mean it.

Flat delivery of something you care about, usually from controlling the voice rather than using it.

Breath and stamina

Whether it holds for the length of the thing.

The first four minutes are good and the last ten are not, which is a breathing pattern rather than a motivation problem.

What corrects it

Reading the sub-dimension you recognise is the beginning of it and not the work. What corrects a break is practice aimed at that break, in an order, at a dose, checked against what actually happens in a room. That sequence is the Delivery Gym, and how the sequence is run is the five steps.

Which of the 6 is yours is not something this page can tell you, and neither can you. It is named at The Diagnosis, along with which of the four gaps it is, and everything after reads from that one result.

Next dimension: Presence. Or go back to all five.

Ten minutes of questions, and a report showing where your own answers point.
