Questions
How saswatlife works
Everything about reading here, signing in, and what the numbers mean. If your question is not answered, write to mail@saswatlife.com and it will be answered personally.
What is a drill?
A drill is a named mental technique you run on yourself, the same way each time. The Visualisation Drill, the Reflection Drill, the Recalibration Drill, the Pattern Identification Drill, and others. You do them alone, in your own time, and the family a drill belongs to tells you what it does to you.
What is an exercise?
An exercise is prepared work with an output, done once, in the room. Ninety seconds to make a stranger care about your work, and then hearing them say back what they think you do. Exercises happen inside the Gym, with people watching, and at the end something exists that did not before.
What is a Gym?
The Communication Gym is the block of activity inside a live session. Not reading and not homework: work done with other people present and me running it. Three kinds of thing happen in it, and the difference between them is the whole of how it works.
What is the quiz?
Questions with answers, checking that a thing landed. In the room it is five recordings and you name which dimension broke in each, then the answers go up together so you can see where the room disagreed. At the foot of an article it will be five questions on the article. No grade and no ranking.
Drill, exercise, Gym: what is the one sentence that tells them apart?
A drill you do alone, a Gym is the room you do it in with other people, and an exercise is one of the things that happens in that room. Or shorter: drills are what you practise between sessions, the Gym is the session.
Which of them is free, and which is prescribed?
Most drills are open to everybody and kept as rituals, and the Gym runs free at Studio on Sunday evenings. What is prescribed is the aim: after a Diagnosis, certain drills come back pointed at your dimension, in sequence, with a dose and an end. Same technique, different rules.
Do I need an account to use the drills?
No. Every drill is fully readable without signing in and always will be. Signing in only counts the days you practised, which is the difference between a ritual and a good intention.
How does a Gym know I have finished something?
It does not, and it should not. Gym work happens with people watching, and attendance is the record. Measurement belongs to the drills you do alone, where the app can honestly count minutes and days.
Why does my Gym only show one or two things at a time?
It does not. That is the prescription on your drills page, which opens one piece at a time so nobody collects five half started things. The Gym shows everything, because the room does what the room does on the day.
Is anything in my Gym on a deadline?
No drill is on a deadline. Nothing you practise expires, nothing is marked late, and disappearing for three weeks returns you to exactly what you left. What does have an end is a term. If you are working with me under one, it runs for a set number of weeks, you get a week's notice before it ends, and nothing renews by itself. When a term ends the drills close and every day you logged stays where it is.
Can I do the drills and a Gym at the same time?
That is the intended shape. Drills between sessions, alone. The Gym in a session, with people. One builds the technique and the other puts it under pressure, and a technique that has never been under pressure is a thing you know rather than a thing you can do.
Is the Gym something I can buy?
No, and there is no price on any page here. Studio on Sunday evenings is open and free. Inside the Atelier the Gym runs against the dimension your Diagnosis named. Which is right for you is a conversation rather than a checkout.
What is a game, and why are there games?
A constraint and a clock. Twelve words to describe a situation, not thirteen. Hold a silence until your partner speaks while the room times you. A constraint does in seven minutes what a lecture on brevity does not do in an hour, and a skill under time behaves differently from the same skill with all afternoon.
What needs an account, and what does not?
Almost nothing needs one. Every article, the whole drill library, the Method, the frameworks, the Gym, and everything about Studio are readable without signing in, and always will be. An account is needed for five things and each for a plain reason: taking The Signal, because the result is only useful if it is attached to you and everything above it reads from it; holding a booking, because a time has to belong to a person rather than a browser; asking for a place in The Green Room, because your consent has to be recorded rather than assumed; your dashboard, which is nothing but your own record; and taking a seat at Studio, because the room stays small. The Standing shows only to signed in readers because it is a room of named people, not a page for strangers to browse. Signing in never posts anything anywhere.

Do I need an account to read?
No. Every article is fully readable without signing in, and no reading profile is built for visitors who are not signed in. Signing in is optional, and it exists only to keep your own reading, likes, and saved articles together.
What does signing in actually give me?
Four things: your likes are remembered across devices, you can save articles privately to your dashboard, your daily reading streak is tracked, and you appear on The Standing. Nothing is posted anywhere, and nothing is shared with advertisers.
How does the reading streak work?
Your streak counts consecutive days on which you read at least one article while signed in. It only moves on days you actually read. If a full day passes with no reading, the streak returns to zero and starts again. Your longest streak is kept as your record, so a reset never erases what you achieved.
Why did my streak not go up today?
A streak counts one day at a time, so reading five articles in a day still counts as one day. It also needs you to be signed in when you read; reading signed out does not register. Days are counted on Indian Standard Time.
How are points earned?
Reading an article for the first time earns points, liking an article earns points, keeping your streak alive each day earns points, and taking part in a saswatlife event earns the most. Re-reading an article you have already read does not add more points, so the board rewards range rather than repetition.
What is the difference between Like and Save?
Like is public: it adds to the article's visible count and earns you points. Save is private: it keeps the article on your dashboard so you can find it again, and no one else sees what you have saved.
Who can see my name on The Standing?
Signed in readers see the names and profile photos of everyone on the readers list, along with their points. A second list counts days practised and is visible only to people who are practising. One switch in your dashboard takes you off both, and your points and days keep counting either way.
Can I use saswatlife without the app?
Yes. The website and the Android app show the same articles and the same account. Whatever you read, like, or save in one appears in the other, because both use the same sign in.
What happens to my data if I sign out?
Nothing is lost. Your streak, points, likes, and saved articles stay on your account, and they are all there when you sign back in. Signing out only ends the session on that device.
How do I delete my account?
Write to mail@saswatlife.com and ask. Your account and the data attached to it are deleted, except anything a law requires be kept. You can also ask to see everything held about you, or to have it corrected.
Is any of this required to work with saswatlife?
No. The streaks, points, and board are there for readers who enjoy them. The coaching work itself begins with The Signal, then The First Call, and none of it depends on a score.
Where do I begin if I am new?
Take The Signal. Ten minutes of questions you answer on your own, with nothing booked and no fee, and a report showing where your own answers point. If you would rather read first, The Method explains the five dimensions, the dimensions pages open each one out into what sits underneath it, and the problems shelf is arranged by dimension so you can find your own sentence.
If the question you have is really about your own communication, it starts in the same place for everybody and costs nothing.
