The Communication Gym
The Message Gym
The remedy for one dimension, in one place. What you say, and what you leave out. Everything on this page is what is worked on and why. The order, the dose, and the measurement open once a Diagnosis has named which of these is actually yours.
What is worked on
A message is not everything you know about a thing. It is the smallest thing the other person needs in order to do what the moment requires. Almost every failure here is a failure of subtraction.
-
Selection
What you leave out. Everything relevant is included, because everything relevant feels obligatory. The point survives, buried, among things that were also true.
-
Order
What comes first. You build to the conclusion. That works in writing, where a reader can wait, and fails in rooms, where people stop before you arrive.
-
Compression
Saying it in fewer words without losing it. Halfway through you have used the words you had and the point is not finished, so the ending is improvised.
-
Structure
One idea per sentence. Three ideas arrive inside one sentence joined by and, which, and because. This is the actual mechanism of sounding jumbled.
-
Language under pressure
Grammar and word choice when attention is on you. The grammar holds in writing and collapses in speech, which means it is a load problem rather than a knowledge problem.
Each of these is opened out further on the Message page.
What it is made of
Drills
Run alone, between sessions.
Named techniques aimed at one sub-dimension. Measured in minutes actually spent and separate days returned to, both, because a habit is a days number and not an hours number. The open library is here and always will be.
Exercises
Prepared work with an output, done once.
They happen in a session, with people present. At the end something exists that did not before. An exercise is not measured, it is done or it is not.
Sessions
The live hour.
Where the work is put under other people and a clock. Attendance is the record, because a heartbeat cannot measure a room. Open and free on Sunday at Studio, and private inside the Atelier.
The roadmap
What order, and what dose.
The part that is not published. Which sub-dimension first, how long each runs, what opens next, and what tells you it is finished. It is written against your result rather than against the dimension, which is why it cannot sit on a public page.
What is open, and what is not
The understanding is open. Every sub-dimension above, every drill in the library, how the five steps run, and what each piece of the work is for, are readable by anybody without an account and will stay that way. There is nothing to buy on this page.
What is not open is the sequence. The order, the dose, what opens after what, and the measurement against your own result. That is not held back to create a wall. It is held back because it is written against one person's diagnosis, and a sequence aimed at the wrong sub-dimension inside the right dimension is worse than no sequence, since it fails invisibly.
It opens after a Diagnosis, and it is run either on your own time or with the hours attached. Which of the two suits you is a conversation rather than a selection.
Which of these is yours is not something a page can tell you. Your own answers take ten minutes.
Take The SignalOr read how the work is done, or the Gym across all five dimensions.
