Feedback
Receiving feedback
Take a correction without defending it away.
The gapExplaining before understanding, so the feedback never lands.
When to use it
Every time somebody tells you something you did not want to hear.
What you need
A partner willing to give real feedback.
The steps
- Partner gives the feedback.
- Do not explain or defend.
- Listen to all of it.
- Paraphrase it back.
- Ask one clarifying question.
- Identify the behaviour change it points at.
- Perform the behaviour again.
You know it worked when
The feedback becomes an action rather than an argument.
What else it works, and why
- Presence
- Receiving criticism takes composure and regulation.
- Message
- You have to understand and interpret the feedback accurately.
Which drill is yours, in what order and at what dose, is not something a page can tell you. That is what a Discovery Call is for.
