Explaining
What, how, why
Give a definition, a mechanism and a reason, because the first alone teaches nothing.
The shape
- What
- How
- Why
Why that order
Definition alone does not create understanding. Mechanism creates understanding. Purpose creates relevance.
A worked example
- What
- Our system uses automated deployment.
- How
- Code moves through testing and deployment pipelines with no manual server configuration.
- Why
- It reduces deployment errors and shortens release time.
A framework tells you what shape the answer takes. It cannot tell you whether shape is what you are short of, and for most people it is not. Which one is yours, and whether a framework is the right instrument at all, is what a Discovery Call is for.
