When to use it
On a recording of yourself explaining something familiar.
The steps
- Record a normal explanation.
- Mark the repeated ideas and the filler phrases.
- Mark the unnecessary examples and the tangents.
- Mark the excessive qualifiers and the unnecessary background.
- Rewrite the message without them.
- Deliver it again.
- Compare the two.
You know it worked when
The second version is shorter and clearer and has lost nothing essential.
