Work on my communication

The drills

Message and thinking

Core idea

Find the one idea the listener must leave with.

The gapThe point exists somewhere inside everything you said.

Message · Skill gap · 10 minutes · on your own

When to use it

Before explaining anything you know well.

The steps

  1. Choose the topic and write everything you want to say.
  2. Circle the most important idea.
  3. Ask: if they remember one thing, what should it be?
  4. Rewrite it as one sentence.
  5. Remove everything that does not support it.
  6. Say the sentence aloud.
  7. Add supporting material only once the core idea is clear.

You know it worked when

You can state the central point without getting lost in what supports it.

What else it works, and why

Intent
The core idea must serve the outcome, not represent everything you know.

In the daily practice

Every act of communication is better for knowing the actual point before it starts.

One of the five in the backbone

Which drill is yours, in what order and at what dose, is not something a page can tell you. That is what a Discovery Call is for.
