Questions
Ask questions that produce something you did not have.
The gapQuestions that keep the conversation going and surface nothing.
When to use it
Before any conversation whose purpose is to find something out.
The steps
- Choose the objective of the conversation.
- Write five questions.
- Classify each: information, understanding, perspective, concern, or action.
- Have the conversation.
- Ask without immediately supplying your own answer.
- Review what each question actually uncovered.
You know it worked when
The questions create information rather than filling time.
What else it works, and why
- Intent
- Questions are chosen for what you need to understand or achieve.
- Message
- A question is itself a deliberately constructed message.
In the daily practice
Questions keep curiosity, understanding and responsiveness in use rather than in theory.
Which drill is yours, in what order and at what dose, is not something a page can tell you. That is what a Discovery Call is for.
