Jargon translation
Say a technical thing in the listener's language.
The gapPrecision that only works for people who already agree with you.
When to use it
Explaining your work to anybody outside it.
The steps
- Take a technical explanation.
- Highlight every technical term.
- Replace each with plain language.
- Explain it as if to a capable beginner.
- Ask a non specialist to explain it back.
- Find what is still confusing.
- Simplify again.
You know it worked when
They understand it without needing your vocabulary.
What else it works, and why
- Intent
- You must know what level of explanation the purpose requires.
- Connection
- Language is adapted to their knowledge rather than your expertise.
In the daily practice
Translating expertise into somebody else's language is a daily requirement, not an occasional one.
Which drill is yours, in what order and at what dose, is not something a page can tell you. That is what a Discovery Call is for.
