Feedback
Specificity
Make feedback precise enough to act on.
The gapBe more confident. Communicate better. Improve your presentation.
When to use it
Whenever you catch yourself giving advice that could apply to anybody.
The steps
- Take the vague feedback.
- Ask: what exactly did the person do?
- Identify the specific behaviour.
- Identify its effect.
- Define the behaviour you want instead.
- State the feedback in one sentence.
You know it worked when
The person knows exactly what to change.
What else it works, and why
- Intent
- Feedback has to name the change it is meant to produce.
- Connection
- Specificity is what makes it usable by the other person.
Which drill is yours, in what order and at what dose, is not something a page can tell you. That is what a Discovery Call is for.
