Communication identity
Voice ownership
Say the thing without the disclaimers in front of it.
The gapI think maybe, I am not sure but, this may be wrong.
When to use it
Daily, in writing and aloud.
The steps
- Find the minimising phrases you use.
- Decide whether the uncertainty is actually warranted.
- If it is not, remove the phrase.
- State the idea directly.
- Support it with reasoning or evidence.
- Repeat it in a real situation.
You know it worked when
You express the certainty you actually have, no more and no less.
What else it works, and why
- Intent
- Ownership depends on knowing what you actually stand behind.
- Message
- Ownership is expressed through direct language.
- Connection
- Appropriate ownership raises credibility and clarity.
