The shape

  1. Outcome
  2. Scope
  3. Timeline
  4. Responsibility
  5. Constraints

Why that order

Naming what is outside scope is the step people skip because it feels negative. It is the one that prevents the argument.

A worked example

We will deliver the first version by Friday. That version includes the dashboard and reporting. Advanced analytics is outside the current scope. Our team owns implementation, and your team provides the data by Wednesday.

Mostly serves Message, and reaches into Intent.

A framework tells you what shape the answer takes. It cannot tell you whether shape is what you are short of, and for most people it is not. Which one is yours, and whether a framework is the right instrument at all, is what a Discovery Call is for.
