Delivery
Pause, emphasise, land
Give an important idea the space it needs to be absorbed.
The shape
- Pause, which creates attention
- Emphasise, which signals importance
- Land, which connects it to meaning
Why that order
Silence creates the space. Emphasis marks what matters. Landing ties it to why. Said continuously, all three ideas arrive as one and the listener keeps none.
A worked example
There is one issue we cannot ignore. [pause] Customer trust. [pause] That is why fixing the communication failure matters more than adding another person to support.
You have it right when
The room is quiet in the pause rather than restless.
Practise it
Knowing the shape is about ten minutes of work. Running it while somebody senior is looking at you is a different thing, and that is what these are for.
Mostly serves Delivery, and reaches into Message and Presence.
A framework tells you what shape the answer takes. It cannot tell you whether shape is what you are short of, and for most people it is not. Which one is yours, and whether a framework is the right instrument at all, is what a Discovery Call is for.
