The drills

Pressure and performance

Difficult questions

Hold structure across several layers of questioning.

The gapThe first answer holds and the third does not.

Message · Skill gap · 20 minutes · needs a partner

When to use it

Before interviews, panels and reviews.

What you need

A partner willing to keep going.

The steps

  1. Partner asks an unexpected question.
  2. Pause.
  3. Decode the question.
  4. Decide whether clarification is needed.
  5. Structure the answer.
  6. Deliver it.
  7. Partner challenges the answer.
  8. Respond.

You know it worked when

The structure survives the second and third question.

What else it works, and why

Intent
You have to work out what is actually being asked.
Delivery
The answer has to be delivered clearly.
Presence
An unexpected question creates pressure.
Connection
The answer has to address the person and their concern.

Which drill is yours, in what order and at what dose, is not something a page can tell you. That is what a Discovery Call is for.
