Pressure and performance
Escalation
Find where it breaks, then move the break further out.
The gapNot knowing the edge of your own reliable range.
When to use it
Once the behaviour is stable at rest.
What you need
A partner able to add pressure in stages.
The steps
- Perform normally.
- Add mild pressure.
- Add interruption.
- Add disagreement.
- Add time pressure.
- Add an unexpected question.
- Continue until the performance breaks.
- Identify the failure point.
- Recalibrate.
- Repeat from one level below it.
You know it worked when
The range in which you perform reliably gets wider.
Why all five, and not one
- Intent
- The objective has to survive everything else that is happening.
- Message
- What is said has to keep its structure while the rest moves.
- Delivery
- How it is expressed has to hold under the same conditions.
- Presence
- The state it is expressed from has to stay steady.
- Connection
- It still has to reach the person in front of you.
Which drill is yours, in what order and at what dose, is not something a page can tell you. That is what a Discovery Call is for.
