Observation and recalibration
Gap replay
Turn one failure into a correction you can see.
The gapKnowing it went wrong, without being able to show the difference.
When to use it
After a specific moment you keep returning to.
What you need
A partner to recreate the situation.
The steps
- Identify the failed moment.
- Recreate the situation.
- Perform it exactly as you did.
- Stop at the failure point.
- Identify the gap.
- Decide the replacement behaviour.
- Replay the same moment.
- Perform the corrected behaviour.
- Repeat until the difference is obvious.
You know it worked when
You can demonstrate the difference between the old behaviour and the new one.
What else it works, and why
- Intent
- You compare the intended communication with the outcome.
- Message
- You can locate where the message failed.
- Delivery
- The original delivery is compared with the corrected one.
- Presence
- You examine what state contributed to the failure.
- Connection
- It ultimately tests whether the corrected version lands differently.
Which drill is yours, in what order and at what dose, is not something a page can tell you. That is what a Discovery Call is for.
