The steps
- Choose a realistic scenario.
- Identify three previously trained capabilities.
- Do not tell the learner when each is needed.
- Run the scenario.
- Introduce a complication.
- Observe whether the capabilities are integrated without prompting.
- Review.
- Identify which dimension broke first.
You know it worked when
Communication stops being a set of separate techniques.
Why all five, and not one
- Intent
- The objective has to survive everything else that is happening.
- Message
- What is said has to keep its structure while the rest moves.
- Delivery
- How it is expressed has to hold under the same conditions.
- Presence
- The state it is expressed from has to stay steady.
- Connection
- It still has to reach the person in front of you.
