The steps
- Choose a mastered capability.
- Put it in a completely different context.
- Do not explain how to adapt it.
- Let the learner work out the application.
- Observe.
- Review whether the underlying principle survived the change.
You know it worked when
A capability is demonstrated rather than a technique repeated.
Why all five, and not one
- Intent
- The objective has to survive everything else that is happening.
- Message
- What is said has to keep its structure while the rest moves.
- Delivery
- How it is expressed has to hold under the same conditions.
- Presence
- The state it is expressed from has to stay steady.
- Connection
- It still has to reach the person in front of you.
