Coordinate what you say with what is on the screen.
The shape
- Tell
- Show
- Explain
Why that order
The audience needs to know what to look at before being asked to interpret it. Reversed, they spend the first ten seconds reading and none of it listening.
A worked example
- Tell
- This chart shows where our biggest delays are.
- Show
- Highlight the largest one.
- Explain
- The bottleneck is concentrated in manual approval.
